A Preservation Zone in Rancho Palos Verdes?

The city of Rancho Palos Verdes hopes to purchase 800 acres in what is called one of the last major open spaces in southern Los Angeles County.

The city of Rancho Palos Verdes says that the 800 acres are unstable and unsafe for homes. There is a moratorium on building. One owner disagrees and says that a few million dollars would stabilize the hills. A geological study is due next month. The land will go to the highest bidder and according to the owner, that is most likely a home builder.
