Beginning May 21, GRTC Transit System will offer express bus service between Richmond and Fredericksburg. The service would be coordinated with Virginia Railway Express, which runs commuter trains between Fredericksburg and Washington Union Station, with several stops en route. One-way fare will be about $6, subsidezed by a $200,000 federal grant. There will be two morning departures from Richmond and two late afternoon departures from Fredericksburg. "According to 2000 census data, about 1,300 people from the metro Richmond area worked in the District of Columbia, Alexandria, and Arlington and Fairfax counties."
