Owners of Dolphin Stadium in north Miami-Dade County hope a $250 million dollar renovation will help reposition the stadium as an entertainment mecca for the Americas, effectively blurring the line between traditional stadium, theatre, and arena.
"When Dolphin Stadium opens its glitzy Club Level this fall, a 400-foot wall of blue and green glass will give patrons a sweeping view of the South Florida skyline. But the $250 million renovation is just as much about how the world views the aging stadium.
'Our market is now the world -- not just our little corner here in South Florida,' said Dolphin Stadium President Bruce Schulze. 'We want to compete against the Wembleys -- although we think we are better than Wembley,' he said, referring to London's renowned sports center, which was built in 1924."
