Florida Voters To Decide Whether To Take A Fast Train

"When Floridians go to the polls onTuesday, they can choose to make a bullet train a reality here by voting yes to Constitutional Amendment 1, which would mandate construction of ahigh-speed railway system in Florida by 2003. It could be built at a cost to taxpayers estimated by the State Department of Transportation at $5.6billion. But the train concept has powerful opposition here - namely, road buildersand some county governments, where officials worry that it will bleed tax money from schools, prisons and other, more immediate, concerns."
