LA's School Construction: A Model For The Future?

The Los Angeles Unified School District hasn't built a school in 20 years. Their most recent attempt has been a disaster. Is this the future?

"One of the largest and most important construction sites in Los Angeles today is situated a half-mile west of City Hall and the emerging cultural skyline of downtown. Visible from the 110 Harbor freeway, this 35-acre construction site is bounded by Temple Street to the north, Beverly Boulevard to the south, and Beaudry Avenue to the east. A visitor, expecting to see the workings of a full-blown construction site seeping into the neighboring streets, will be greeted silence and questions surrounding this barren acreage, known as the Belmont Learning Complex."
