Buffalo's newest challenge is keeping dozens of high-tech companies that have started up in Buffalo.
"The city counts 15 new technology companies and nine expansions downtown, adding 535 jobs. Counting established employers, there are 33 info-tech companies in the city that economic developers know of - most concentrated in the area below Tupper Street. That's a total of nearly 3,900 jobs in Buffalo; it does not take into account the technology companies thriving in the suburbs. Tech firms are 'putting the brakes on the exodus of our young, talented people,' Masiello said. 'It's become the antithesis of our brain drain.'"
