Delegates from 180 nations could not reach a consensus on how to curb emission of greenhouse gases responsible for global warming, "a threat that scientists have now clearly identified as one of the biggest the world faces." This article discusses some of the issues that proved to be "sticking points" and suggests that this failure makes further international action on global warming unlikely and may also worsen the problems the talks were intended to tackle.
