Olympic Bid Could Provide Public Housing

Tampa Housing Authority Officials are looking to work with the Florida 2012 Olympic Committee to build new units.

Officials at the Tampa Housing Authority hope to work with the Florida 2012 Committee working to bring the Olympics to Central Florida. The Olympic Bid Committee wants to build an Olympic Stadium on property where rundown housing slated for demolition now stands. Also, plans call for an Olympic Village that could be used for public housing before and after the games. Both sides feel that they can work together to improve the urban landscape in Tampa, but many questions remain unanswered, and some current residents are concerned.
