Transportation costs for residents in some of Chicago's suburbs are twice that of those who live in the city.

A study concludes that "the cost of transportation in some suburbs is twice as much as in the city, thanks to the lack of public transportation...The study also suggests that people often overlook the expense of owning a car, which in the Chicago area on average is more than the cost of food, entertainment or health care."
