"The three-month suspension includes an area equal to 17,200 square miles. It stretches from the Sequoia NationalForest north of Los Angeles, along the mountains past Yosemite National Park and Lake Tahoe, to the ModocNational Forest on the Oregon border...The suspension is scheduled to last until March 1, or until a decision is announced on the "Sierra NevadaFramework." Forestry officials say they will produce the framework--a broad restructuring of management plans forthe forests at issue--this month."
