U.S. Congress has approved land compensation for Native American tribe that lost half its reservation to flooding.

"The 140-member Torres-Martinez tribe has fought for years to expand its reservation, created in 1876. Much of the tribe's land flooded in 1905, when the Colorado River blew through a dike as water districts sought to divert water to irrigate Imperial Valley crops. The result, the Salton Sea, is California's largest lake and a large tourist draw but also a body of water that suffers from periodic fish and bird kills. "
