Residents are overwhelmingly in favor of extending a rail link that would connect the Washington D.C. region directly to Dulles International Airport, according to a recent survey.
"According to a recently published survey, the proposed Rail to Dulles project enjoys widespread support among residents of Northern Virginia and the greater metropolitan area. The Dulles Corridor Rail Association (DCRA) commissioned the study in light of Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) concerns that Northern Virginians are divided on whether to support the current proposal for the metro extension through Tysons Corner to Dulles Airport and beyond."
"According to the survey, 89 percent of the respondents said that rail extension is important to the region's future, with 55 percent viewing it as extremely important to the region's future. Based on what they knew about the proposed rail extension, 87 percent of the respondents favored it, and 68 percent of the respondents strongly favored it. Only 2 percent of the respondents were strongly opposed to the project."
