The FAA is looking at El Toro, the former Marine airfield, in Orange County as a possible new international airport.

Critics say that the location is not safe because of high winds and nearby mountains. So the FAA has begun tests on the departure routes and obstacle clearances. Orange County officials support the use of El Toro as an airfield. But there is a coalition of eight cities opposed.
