More Airports Needed In Southern California

Even with an expansion at LAX, officials are calling for increased capacity in neighboring Orange County to help meet demand.

"Los Angeles International Airport could grow from 65 million to 90 million annual passengers with an $11.4 billion expansion, but Orange County must help meet Southern California's aviation demands, says an LAX environmental-impact report released Thursday. The draft report shows LAX going far beyond its capacity even with the massive expansion if Orange County doesn't build a second airport at the closed El Toro Marine base."
