Electric Cars Coming To CA By 2003

Despite objections from the automobile industry, the CA. Air Resources Board ordered the new cars to be here by 2003.

The world's 13 largest auto makers claim that zero-emission battery-powered cars are impractical and unmarketable. But the 11 member CARB has ordered the cars to be on the market beginning with the 2003 model year. Supporters of the electric-car mandate say that the requirement will bring down costs and force development of new technologies.
