Plans for a 4.6 km tramway have been announced for downtown Burj Dubai -- a $136 million transit system intended to link major developments in the rapidly rising emirate.
"The 4.6km Downtown Burj Dubai Tram System tramway has been designed to meet the commuting needs of residents and visitors to the $20 billion mixed-use neighbourhood, comprising more than 30,000 homes, and over 3.77 million square feet of retail space, Emaar said in a statement."
"Chairman Mohamed Ali Alabbar said the system would address the huge anticipated demand on the traffic infrastructure within the project, adding it was also environmentally viable and would deliver sustainable solutions for the long-term."
