The Research Triangle is experiencing the national trend of slowing demand for office space, and that is making developers think twice.
"The economic slide that started last year should continue at least through the first half of this year as companies continue to cut their payrolls after years of expansion, according to a market survey by the Triangle's largest commercial real-estate company. To commercial developers, that means less need for office space in new buildings and fewer new workers looking for apartments in new complexes, according to the report by Carolantic Realty. A stronger review of the risk -- as opposed to the reward -- of [new] projects will be advised."
