"City officials will grant landmark status to at least a dozen buildings and sites this year. Chances are, Marina City won't be one of them. It's a shame. The twin residential towers of Marina City are among the handful of local buildings known across the globe. Built between 1959 and 1967, the complex was designed as a modernist city-within-a-city with residences, offices, a movie theater, a studio and--of course--a marina...Marina City was visionary work that foretold how people would remain in the city if given something different."
