One of Chicago's most famous streetscapes is threatened by proposed new towers.
"The National Trust for Historic Preservation names the wall of historic skyscrapers along Michigan Avenue across from Grant Park as one of the nation's 11 most endangered historic places. Chicago preservation groups have long argued that that plans for large-scale towers could mar the beauty of the so-called "Michigan Avenue Streetwall," which extends for nearly one and a half miles. Michigan Avenue includes buildings by the likes of Louis Sullivan and Daniel Burnham and forms one of the signature images of Chicago."
