The Job-Center Housing Coalition, an umbrella group that coversover 50 local and state business leaders, labor representatives, andhousing and consumer advocates, requested that legislators examine the state's housing shortage and take immediate action to alleviate it.Allen Zaremberg, president of the California Chamber of Commerce and co-chair of the Job-Center Housing Coalition, stated that unless lawmakers move quickly to increase the amount of housing being built, employers and workers will be driven out of the state searching for more affordable environments. The coalition recommended establishing a plan for meeting long-term housing needs, encouraging redevelopment and infill projects, providing state funding for low- and moderate- income family housing, and supporting housing close to jobs, among other items.
