New Times LA reports that plans to fix L.A.'s famous Hollywood Bowl have taken a suspicious turn: demolition.
"...Los Angeles County government, which owns the bowl, and officials of the philharmonic, which leases it, have studiously avoided the D word even as they press ahead with plans to demolish the venerable landmark as early as October. The county intends to replace the shell, at a cost of $18 million, with a new shell that would have nearly triple the stage space and offer souped-up sound and light capabilities that exceed even the philharmonic's wish list for its own needs -- something critics say only a rock-concert promoter could appreciate."
