"Architectural standards designed to make large-scale retail stores more attractive would be mandated under an ordinance up for final City Council approval today. The ordinance would apply to retail facilities larger than 50,000 square feet, such as membership warehouse clubs, outlet stores and grocery stores. The ordinance would establish standards for exterior walls, entryways, building materials and colors. It would also create design standards for parking lots, street accessibility, outdoor storage and delivery areas, drive-through service and trash containers."
