Donella Meadows, the world-renowed environmentalist will be remembered for her seminal work 'The Limits to Growth' and her contributions to environmentalism.
"Ms. Meadows, a world-renowned environmentalist who died Tuesday of bacterial meningitis at age 59, will long be remembered as co-author of such seminal works as ''The Limits to Growth,'' the winner of several prestigious fellowships and awards, and the inspiring instructor of a generation of Dartmouth students. But more than anything, Ms. Meadows will be remembered for living what she believed. That was evident in everything from resigning her tenured professorship at Dartmouth in 1983 to teach as an adjunct and devote more time to environmentalism, to creating her own 'eco-village' in Vermont, where she and others could practice what they preached."
