The federal Community Development Block Grants are helping to revive towns in Michigan.
"Officials from 20 other communities with fewer that 50,000 residents last week joined Washington Township in a meeting with county development officials to apply for the grant money the upcoming fiscal year...The funds can be used for everythingn from the kitchen at Washington Township's Senior Center to paving streets and installing sidewalks to running water pipes and paying someone to clean houses for seniors. But the money has to be used to help people with low or moderate incomes."
