" In cities and counties across the country, billions of dollars are being spent to preserve land and develop parks. The trend is not lost on metro Atlanta...$30 million being made available to the state's 40 fastest-growing counties in the first year of Gov. Roy Barnes' green-space initiative, with most of the money targeted for metro Atlanta. The program is designed to protect land from development, including the creation of passive parks with walking trails or natural areas."
