"Calgary's bylaw boss is warning dangerous cyclists that the city's Mr. Nice Guy approach to breaking the rules is over.

The bylaw squad is moving away from the gentler approach of educating people and is cracking down on riders who break the rules, said Bill Bruce, chief bylaw officer. The city's phenomenal growth has put pressure on Calgary's extensive 635-kilometre pathway system, he said.

Mr. Bruce said his office has received a growing number of calls about altercations between the cyclists, walkers and in-line skaters who share the paths - with obnoxious cyclists at the top of the list of complaints."
