A wide range of national experts and special guests will address the conference, which is being held at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside and Morial Convention Center. Harvard University Vice President Paul S. Grogan, co-author of Comeback Cities, A Blueprint for Urban Neighborhood Revival, is the conference keynote speaker. Other distinguished guests include National Association of Counties President Jane Hague, U.S. Conference of Mayors Chairman Brent Coles, and New Orleans Mayor Marc Morial. City planning officials, leaders and others will discuss innovative ideas about "smart development," protecting biodiversity and improving community livability. Besides field workshops and conference sessions, the premiere of an exclusive, multimedia presentation honoring the 2001 National Planning Award recipients will be shown during a special luncheon and awards presentation ceremony Tuesday, March 13.
