Chicago Population Increases

Census 2000 numbers show population increases in many large, older cities like Chicago.

"Illinois' population grew 8.6 percent during the 1990s, to 12.4 million, according to results of Census 2000 released today... The census also showed a 70 percent increase in the state's Hispanic population in the last decade. Hispanics now make up 12.3 percent of the state's population, compared with 7.9 percent in 1990."
