"The problem with Las Vegas is that there's no there there. Residents are hungry for a core, a center..." The downtown is now a tired, seedy, threadbare place. The city has 61 acres in the middle of it. Formerly a railroad switch yard, proposals are now being received that range from TV and film production studios to a major sports arena and performing arts center.
