A project is underway to photograph every street intersection in San Francisco to create a virtual tour of the city consisting of 360-degree panoramic "photo bubbles."
"...using high-resolution digital cameras with special 180-degree fish eye lenses that capture everything in front of them -- the intersection, the surrounding buildings, the sky above and the blacktop below. One picture is taken looking out into the intersection. The camera is swung around on its tripod, and a second picture is taken looking toward the sidewalk. Stitch the two hemispheres together, and there's an amazing shot of the whole thing: cars, sidewalk, sky, people. "
