Preservationists Win Victory In California

The State high court ruled that cities cannot lift landmark status from historic homes without environmental review.

The CA. Supreme Court ruled that Sierra Madre improperly removed historic buildings from a list even after citizens passed a ballot measure to do so. Opponents of the decision, and historic-designated-home-owners, cannot make any repairs or modifications to their homes without commission approval. They believe that this violates their 1st Ammendment rights.
