" Rapidly developing Kane County is considering an innovative plan to use $15 million in gambling proceeds to buy and preserve farms to protect them from encroaching homes and businesses.But the county's proposed farmland protection program--the first of its kind in Illinois and the Midwest--is running into strong opposition from an unlikely source: farmers.Some farmers dislike the plan because they object to public ownership of farms."
