Base rate of $1.90 would make SEPTA the second most expensive system in the nation.
"SEPTA yesterday proposed its first fare hikes since 1995, and riders on buses, trains, trolleys and subways could pay more come July. If the change is approved by the agency's board of directors in June, the popular token fare - used by more than a third of riders - will rise from $1.15 to $1.30. SEPTA's cash fare of $1.60 would rise to $1.90, making it the second-highest in the country, after the $2 cost of a bus ride in San Diego."
