Desert Water To Be Used By MWD

In a move that California environmentalists fear, the MWD has approved a plan to pump water from the Mojave underground aquifer.

California is planning for the scheduled reduction of its share of the Colorado River's water. This project to store and pump water from under the Mojave Desert has environmentalists fearing that the project could damage the fragile desert ecosystem. This includes dust storms and a depletion of springs that provide water for desert bighorn sheep and other animals.
