"Preserving Michigan's open spaces and protecting the state's water are the goals of a legislative plan announced by Republican leaders in the state House... The package includes a proposal to require townships to pass ordinances encouraging the preservation of open space by builders of new subdivisions. It also encourages the coordination of planning and zoning between municipalities."
