Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore. points out that "[T]hey're driving to a health club to ride a stationary bike for an hour" -- in air conditioning." He goes on to say that "retirees don't need castles with expansive lawns. Many of them would return, he believes, to the kinds of neighborhoods where they grew up, places built to accommodate walking, biking and a sense of community. If such places existed."
