Mayors of the nation's big cities, heads of educational institutions, business leaders, and others have formed a national organization to advocate for cities.
A group of big-city mayors, including Chicago's Richard Daley, joined business leaders and university officials to create a national organization Thursday meant to become a forceful voice for cities, especially in lobbying federal officials for pro-urban policies... The group hopes to expand the much-touted urban renaissance in cities like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago--with their thriving downtowns and new high-tech jobs--to cities still in need of a comeback."
