Try, Try Again

A local committee in Easton, Connecticut, has made a suggestion on the location of a 9/11 Memorial Site -- the same site that was denied by the Planning and Zoning Commission six months ago.

Several planners planned the Easton 9/11 memorial site, but the proposal was rejected by local Planning and Zoning Commission. Six months later, they did not give up and brought up the same site again. At the same time, the 9/11 Memorial Planning Committee has reaffirmed its commitment to placing the memorial on the green in front of the Easton Public Library, contending that none of the other possibilities were better.

"Barker, a memorial committee member, said each of the other locations present problems. The sites include an area north of the library, which committee members found is not easily accessible and gets too wet; another nearby spot, which would require land swaps, and a site near the Easton Senior Center, which isn't widely visible."
