A New Zealand inventor has built a track for the world's first human-powered monorail called the Shweeb as part of an amusement park [Video]
Adapting recumbent bicycle technology as well as a concept from 100 years ago, the Shweeb encloses the rider and suspends them on rails to achieve speeds of 60 km per hour, 1/3 of the energy required for a mountain bike. While it's only at an "adventure park" now, the inventor hopes it will be adopted by cities in the future as a mode of urban transportation.
