Savannah and Chatham County officials have teamed up with the Metropolitan Planning Commission and Savannah Electric Power Co. since 1985 to centralize all the data it takes to run - and plan - a city, using technology to do things more quickly and accurately and therefore less expensively... As data is collected over the years, more analysis can be done for better planning. The system could have tremendous implications - enhancing drainage, fighting crime, eliminating telephone line cuts. Now, it saves those who use it a lot of time, energy and money
