The Denver Housing Authority is planning on demolishing one of the city's oldest low-income public housing projects to make way for a new mixed-use, transit-oriented housing development.
"At a meeting Tuesday, the Denver Housing Authority unveiled the master plan that will guide redevelopment of the 15 acres near the light-rail stop at West 10th Avenue and Osage Street. The plan calls for demolishing the 270-unit South Lincoln Homes that serves low-income residents and replacing it with up to 900 mixed-income units."
Some are upset at the prospect, which would unfold in phases, as the new development will likely be limited to three-bedroom units, effectively shutting out larger families.
