Architectural Commission Bans Street Furniture

The Boston Back Bay Architectural Commission has voted to ban street furniture such as newspaper boxes from a historic district.

"Boston's Back Bay Architectural Commission - a regulatory body - recently voted unanimously to ban newsracks from the historic district, from Boylston Street to Storrow Drive and from Arlington Street to Charlesgate East.The so-called 'street furniture' ban, sought by the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay, targets news boxes and will take effect Aug. 9."
