Online publication GlobeSt.com reports that Miami-Dade school planning officials are shaking down developers.
"Over the past three years, the Miami-Dade County School District collected about $4 million in voluntary contributions in cash or land on 43 mostly mixed-used residential developments... Among its findings, the state legislative agency discovered a school district practice that often compels a developer to donate money or property in excess of the impact fees set by county ordinance."
