"The high density that new urbanism suggests is what many people left behind when they moved to the suburbs. Those who choose to live in them view the suburbs as very livable communities.Owning a car is more than just a form of transportation for Americans - it is a symbol of personal freedom. Unfortunately, even if there were a stronger market for new urbanism in our new neighborhoods, current-zoning regulations would not allow it in many communities in our region."
