SMA Solar Technology AG, the German company responsible for about 40 percent of the world's solar market will be opening a plant in Denver.
"State and city economic-development officials scrambled to beat out 20 other cities across six states after SMA told them in May that Colorado was in the running, [Pete] Roskop [a representative with the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade] said.
The state will contribute about $3 million in economic incentives, with Denver contributing another $600,000 or so. About $1 million each will go for job training, performance incentives and enterprise-zone tax credits.
Denver will chip in money for relocation expenses, job training and wage subsidies."
