Green Jobs Outlook Not So Rosy

The New England Economic partnership warns that Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick's optimism about green jobs may be unrealistic.

"There are opportunities to take advantage of new investments in green energy, said Ross Gittell, an economist at the University of New Hampshire and the forecast manager for the partnership. 'But it can't be counted on as a single source' of new growth, he said.

Even the most broad definition of 'green economy' accounts for about 4 percent of the region's employment, he said."
