The American Planning Association publishes its regular update on legislative and public policy issues of interest to planners.
This issue includes update on: the Community Character Act introduced in Senate; House examines transportation congestion; House panel begins action on Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA); and Heritage Area legislation introduced. "Senate supporters of reauthorizing the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) took the offensive early this year by reintroducing reauthorization legislation (S. 328) and trying to enact the measure quickly by unanimous consent. That effort was derailed by oil and gas interests who hoped to use the CZMA bill as a vehicle to open up some coastal areas for additional off shore drilling."
