According to a new report from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the proximity of homes to wind turbines showed no average negative impact on property values.
Researchers studied 7,500 properties in close proximity to turbines and found that average home values showed no appreciable decline.
"Even homes 800 feet to 3,000 feet away from wind farms - where noise and visual disturbances would be most pronounced - showed no measurable decline in value attributable to the presence of turbines.
Previous studies have come to varying conclusions on the impact of wind development on home value. Yet many of those studies used unreliable methods, such as extremely small sample sizes, to reach their conclusions, Ryan Wiser, a staff scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and co-author of the study, said."
