The city, which image lags behind Miami and Orlando, is looking to cities like Austin, TX for a vision for its future.
"In September, Tampa officials will follow the nationwide pilgrimage of civic leaders to high-tech mecca Austin, Texas, to learn how it developed its economy. Jacksonville has visited and so has Orlando, which hired Austin consultants in 1999 to pursue its vision of becoming one of the top five U.S. technology regions. The city hopes to avoid the old growth strategy of just getting bigger and develop an economic vision and other community goals.
