Planned to replace the former Naval Training Center, the newly christened Baldwin Park neighborhood will feature a village center and neo-traditional architecture, similar to Celebration, FL.
"With pre-World War II-style homes, a prime location and a Celebration-like concept, Baldwin Park is seen by [Orlando] Mayor Glenda Hood and its developers as a way to revive a community hit hard by the closing of the sprawling naval base in 1999. Planners say the neighborhood, the name of which was unveiled Tuesday, will have the feel of an urban version of Disney's town of Celebration, with its own downtown and a Main Street that dead-ends at a harbor and entertainment complex built on Lake Baldwin. And all of it is smack in the heart of Orlando, not miles away in the city's western fringes or the suburbs."
